P-37 Mountain Lion Portrait Print

$ 30.00
P-37 lived a very short life, as her and her sister were the victims of infanticide by P-27. Why? As the National Park Service notes in their Puma Profiles: "Why exactly is unknown. To put P-23 into estrus? Their father, P-12, is P-27’s main male competitor in the Santa Monica Mountains. That’s just one theory, though. Truly understanding why may take some time."

Matted 11" x 14 " photography quality print of original artwork.

Part of the "Paint the Ps" Collection

NWF's California Director Beth Pratt challenged artist (and #SaveLACougars volunteer) Kathi Colman to paint all the Ps - the mountain lions that the National Park Service has tagged in a decade of study where "P" designates puma. NPS is now up to over 50, and as Kathi noted, "to paint all the Ps of our local mountains I have kept my studio humming!"

We know these remarkable cats from their photos, but Kathi captured their individuality with compassion and care. Since Kathi and her husband George are committed to getting the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing built, they donate prints to the #SaveLACougars campaign. Kathi Colman passed away in 2023 and we are proud to feature her artwork on the Save LA Cougars webstore.

All sales proceeds benefit the National Wildlife Federation’s #SaveLACougars campaign, currently raising funds to build the a wildlife crossing outside of Los Angeles. The wildlife crossing at Liberty Canyon is quickly advancing toward completion. Building on significant historic preservation efforts, we are close to reconnecting a vital habitat corridor to help save a local population of mountain lions and ensure a future for all area wildlife. With continued fundraising efforts, the crossing construction groundbreaking took place in spring of 2022, and construction will be completed by the end of 2025.
